Announcement on online courses by NYCSRA President

Dear Valued Member,

On behalf of the NYC Special Riggers Association, I hope you and yours are doing well and staying safe during the COVID19 pandemic. We understand these are difficult times for everyone, especially those in the construction industry, and we are doing our part to work the City Department of Buildings, the Mayor’s Office, City Council and Governor Cuomo to provide you with valuable updates and advocate on behalf of all in our industry.

During this time, we hope you will take advantage of the available online courses related to the Construction Safety Act and other Continuing Education requirements so we are all ready to get back to work once the NYS on Pause order has been lifted. The NYS on Pause order has been extended until May 15th.

We recognize that not all SST and Continuing Education Courses have been approved by DOB due to the hands-on component that exist for some. As such, our government affairs team, led by Jim Quent, has been working closely with the Department of Buildings to devise a solution for those workers who need to complete the SST-required courses and/or refreshers courses to renew their licenses. We will keep you updated on our progress in the coming days.

Please see below the most recent actions taken by Governor Cuomo and the NYC Department of Buildings. We have also included an update on Mayor de Blasio’s proposed Executive Budget for FY2021.

If you have any questions about the information below or any industry-related concerns, please contact us at info@nycsra.org.

Be well and stay safe.

Regards,

Veronika Sikorski

President, NYCSRA
